Stage Door

  • Alexander Kasser Theatre 1 Normal Avenue Montclair, NJ, 07043 United States (map)

Acclaimed choreographer Larry Keigwin and Keigwin + Company co-founder Nicole Wolcott create and perform in an all-new, community-enhanced show inspired by the artist’s post-pandemic life on the other side of the stage door featuring a number of performers from Montclair and surrounding towns. Larry and Nicole explore the universal themes of acceptance, aging, and finding your place in the world through the lens of the audition. Stage Door is full of backstage antics and surprising emotional moments that capture the imagination and magic of the theater.

In 2005, Keigwin and Wolcott created the first of what became a nationally-acclaimed series of large-scale, community-based pieces danced to Ravel’s Bolero.  It was created in 15 communities and then, during the early days of the pandemic, virtually, on video for the Juilliard School. Stage Door is sure to be just as much fun and just as touching. As The New Yorker said about Keigwin’s dances: “Dance that Hits Your Pleasure Receptors!”

(Open auditions will take place in late March, and rehearsals will start in mid-April. Don’t miss your chance to be seen onstage in Montclair!)
